Saturday, March 21st 2009 - 9am – 12am Contest on the Bec des Rosses / Prize-Giving / Ceremony / Official Dinner + Party

Since its start in 1996 the “Xtreme” has been considered the most prestigious event in the freeride world. For the “grande finale” of the Freeride World Tour the elite of freeride will tackle the mythical North Face of theBec des Rosses, a dauntingly steep and frighteningly jagged 500 m rock-face.

The Bec des Rosses presents in places some 55 degrees sheer slopes. In an upright position one could nearly lean on the face with one's elbow. With steep and narrow couloirs, high rock cliffs, changing snow and terrain, it asks the riders to be particularly skilled with top physical condition, thorough mountain experience, and top placements in the previous contests.

Around 5000 spectators join the riders at one of the most beautiful natural arenas of the Alps, the Col des Gentianes in Verbier.

More than six thousand spectators watched the world's best freeride snowboarders take on the impressive 600 vertical metre face of the Bec des Rosses in Verbier. Due to bad weather, the mens competition had to be cancelled until later this month -21Mar10

James Stentiford comes 3rd in Chamonix FWT
The only Briton on the line up, James Stentiford, had a very fluid and fast run, with full control down the icy part of the face, giving him the third place of the podium -1Feb10
Russian leg of the Freeride World Tour moved
Due to heavy snowfall and wind, the Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch has been postponed and will be held in Chamonix after the Nissan Freeride de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. -25Jan10
Xavier de Le Rue takes the Freeride de Tignes
The Nissan Freeride de Tignes, the third stage of the Freeride World Tour, took place on the impressive Grand Balme face, left untouched for this competition. After patiently awaiting the best conditions for the competition, the organizers and those from the Tignes resort provided an amazing playground for the worlds elite to reveal their talent -13Mar09
